We were delighted to recently host Bigwave Marketing for their annual team retreat at The Mole Resort in Devon. Over three vibrant days, their team immersed themselves in insightful workshops, energising outdoor activities, and relaxed social evenings — all set against the backdrop of the stunning North Devon countryside.
Corporate Retreat in Devon with Inspiring Workshops and Industry Insights
The retreat began on Monday morning in our Valley Suite, where our Director of Sales and Marketing, Tamsyn, welcomed the team and outlined the schedule. The day started with strategic sessions and engaging guest speakers, sharing valuable insights to spark new ideas and discussion.
After a productive morning, the team enjoyed a generous buffet lunch with a variety of fresh, seasonal options before heading out for an afternoon of adventurous activities.
Outdoor Team Building
In the afternoon, the Bigwave team split into groups and took part in a range of outdoor team-building activities — including axe throwing, archery, foot golf, disc golf, tennis, and the ever-popular pickleball. These activities offered a perfect mix of light-hearted fun and team bonding.
Following check-in at their luxury lodges (complete with personalised welcome gifts), guests had some free time to unwind before the evening entertainment began. A lively quiz night at The Dartmoor was paired with a relaxed, street food-style dinner and drinks served from the resort’s outdoor bar areas.
Quirky Corporate Activities:Duck Herding and Outdoor Fun
Tuesday brought more strategy and collaboration in the morning, followed by a truly memorable afternoon outdoors. One of the afternoon highlights was duck herding, a light-hearted countryside activity that encouraged teamwork and brought plenty of laughs.
The day also included more casual sporting challenges like pickleball and foot golf, ensuring everyone stayed active and engaged.
Evening Dining and Entertainment at The Mole Resort
That evening, the Valley Suite was transformed into an elegant event space. Guests were welcomed with prosecco on arrival and enjoyed a three-course dinner with a seasonal menu offering meat, fish, and vegetarian options, followed by a variety of desserts.
As the night unfolded, the party continued with a lively disco, karaoke, and plenty of dancing. With drinks tokens available across the resort’s bars, the celebratory atmosphere carried on into the night.
A Relaxed Farewell in the Devon Countryside
The retreat concluded on Wednesday morning with a relaxed buffet breakfast — the perfect way to reflect on the experience before heading home.
We look to bring the whole team together once a year to collaborate, learn, review, and plan. The main aim is always to make stronger connections, team build, and enjoy each other’s company. When the opportunity arose to have our retreat held at The Mole Resort, we jumped at the chance.
From start to finish, the planning, pre-communication, and the service we received during our stay was superb. The attention to detail and culture at The Mole Resort stood out to me, and I would highly recommend the resort as a venue for any business. The range of options and activities available, and the quality of the accommodation, food, and service genuinely provides a top experience. The whole team thoroughly enjoyed their stay, and many are keen to return personally with friends and family.
