Where is The Mole?

The Mole Resort is located just outside the charming village of Chittlehamholt. Burrowed into the heart of the Devonshire countryside near the River Mole, The Mole Resort is within reach of Exmoor and the stunning coastlines (both Jurassic and Atlantic).

 

When was The Mole built?

The Mole was officially launched in May 2023, with 58 eco-conscious lodges, historic Manor House, resort rooms and over 40 different activities.

 

Can you reach The Mole by using public transport?

The main train line from London to the south west often stops at Tiverton Parkway which is approximately 45 minutes from The Mole.

The branch line from Exeter to Barnstaple will stop at Eggesford and/or Umberleigh, both approximately 10 minutes from the Mole. There are no regular bus services to or from The Mole, but taxi services are available upon booking in advance.

 

Where is the nearest airport?

Exeter Airport is located approximately 1 hour by car from The Mole Resort.

 

How close is the nearest beach?

Westward Ho! Beach is the nearest, which is approximately 45 minutes’ drive away; a beach geared up to cater to everyone.

 

Do all lodges have hot tubs?

Yes! If you're after a relaxing break, our lodges are ideal - each comes with a hot tub on the private decking.

 

What time is check-in?

Check-in time is from 4pm.

 

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 10am on your day of departure. If you would to check out of our manor house or estate rooms later, you can check out at 12pm (a £20 charge is applicable).

 

Do you need to stay at The Mole to participate in activities?

We welcome all guests - both those staying at the hotel or in a lodge - to use the facilities and activities on site. The activities will be charged according to the ones that you choose.

 

Are dogs allowed at The Mole?

Your dog is just as welcome as you are to our dog-friendly lodges. There is a surcharge of £20 per dog per night which can be added when selecting your accommodation. Our lodges can accommodate up to 2 dogs, while our Estate Rooms can accommodate 1 dog. Please note that we cannot accommodate dogs in our Manor House rooms. If you need any ideas for dog-friendly places to visit during your stay, ask our team and they'll be happy to offer you some suggestions.

 

Are children welcome at The Mole?

Yes, we welcome families with children, so they are very welcome at the Mole. There are several activities on-site to keep them occupied.

 

Do you need to book the restaurant?

Yes, although not essential, we would recommend booking if you wish to dine in the restaurant so that we can guarantee a time for you.

 

Is there a dress code in the restaurant?

The dress code for the restaurant is smart casual.

 

How big is the the resort?

The resort spreads across 125 acres. Our resort map can show you all our facilities and green spaces.

Can I pay by cash at The Mole?

The Resort is cashless, you can pay by credit or debit card.

 

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Yes, we have free Wi-Fi across the whole estate. There is no password required; simply click on the guest Wi-Fi to connect.

 

Is there a free car park?

Yes, we offer plenty of free parking. If you are staying in one of our luxury lodges, there will be parking for at least two cars immediately outside your lodge.

 

What is the cancellation policy?

A 30% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due eight weeks before arrival. Where full payment has been made, the booking is non-refundable.

 

Can I amend my reservation?

Yes, you can. If you made your booking directly through us, please call us or email us, and we will do our best to accommodate your amendments where possible, please note that there may be a £40 admin fee. If you made your booking through a third-party agent, the modifications or cancellations need to go through them.

 

Can I get a later checkout?

Late checkout is available in our Manor House and Estate Rooms only, where you can check out at 12pm (a £20 fee is applicable).

 

Do the lodges have air conditioning?

No, however, the bifold doors in the living area and the double doors in the master bedroom offer the option of having lots of fresh air into your lodge.

 

Are the lodges wheelchair accessible?

Our fully accessible lodge features a roll in shower, full supports for bathroom and bedroom, lower counter tops, accessible oven & microwave, outdoor lift for the hot tub and so much more.

 

Can I choose a specific lodge?

Lodges will be allocated accordingly, as to whether a three or four-bedroom lodge has been booked. Unfortunately, there is no option to choose a specific lodge.

 

What activities are available onsite?

There is a wide range of activities to choose from at The Mole - from croquet to countryside walks. There’s swimming in the 20m heated indoor pool, which also has a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. The Mole Resort has a fully-equipped gym (and a daily programme of classes), and you can play golf or its fun spin-off, disc golf.

 

Are activities free?

Use of the pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, and the gym is included in the price of your stay with us. Other on-site activities will be charged according to the activities that you choose.

 

How do I book activities?

Please visit our activities page to see the range of activities available where you will be able to make the bookings. 

 

Do you have electric vehicle charging?

We offer four electric vehicle charging stations at the Resort. Two are conveniently situated near the Manor House entrance, adjacent to the outdoor pool, while another is positioned outside the leisure building. These charging points are accessible through the Fuuse app.

 

Can I use the hotel facilities if I'm staying in a lodge?

Lodge guests can enjoy all of our fantastic facilities, with access to our outdoor tennis courts, golf course, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The outdoor pool is closed during the winter months.
